The CH-47F with the Digital Automatic Flight Control System (DAFCS) is the first production U.S. Army helicopter to be acquired using ADS-33E hover and low-speed requirements. These requirements include the Attitude-Command Attitude-Hold (ACAH), Translational Rate Command (TRC), and Position Hold (PH) response types to alleviate pilot workload and reduce the probability of mishaps during low-speed, low-altitude flight in poor visibility and near obstacles. This paper presents both simulation and flight test data for evaluation of the partial-authority CH-47F against selected ADS-33E-PRF section 3 requirements.
