The blockade of the Austrian fleet in the Adriatic countered one of the threats to the Gallipoli supply route, even if it did make the Italian coast the target of Austrian wrath. Another threat, that of German submarines operating from Adriatic ports, was not solved by the blockade, and the U-Boats continued to prey on Allied shipping.
