Tac-air controllers needs for lighter equipment to direct air strikes in support of Special Forces in future operations. Performance in Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom) and Operation Iraqi Freedom are analyzed. Innovations from field operatives include SINCGARS, Mark VII , HAVE QUICK and digital cameras for target identification. Use of computer interfaces for targeting of munitions is explored.
