"Mountain Sweep, which involved about 2,000 American aviation and ground forces, was aimed at flushing out al-Qaida and Taliban terrorists operating in southeastern Afghanistan. It included aviation forces from the XVIII Airborne Corps and 82nd Airborne and 101st Airborne divisions. The operation consisted of six air-assault missions, as well as re-supply missions, over a 150 square kilometer area."
