The author is concerned that the success of Allied air power in Afghanistan may lead to a call for reductions in our ground forces. The Taliban and Al Qaeda military forces, limited in manpower and resources, are not typical of the more formidable enemies the U.S. may face in the future. Decisive victories against stronger foes will require the use of ground foes.
