The Comanche is responding to the needs of Army aviators by providing a quality second-generation FLIR and advanced sensor package that brings unsurpassed clarity to the battlefield. The Electro-optical Sensor System will permit Comanche crews to fly safely at extremely low altitudes, in darkness and adverse weather, and to detect targets faster and at greater distances than with currently fielded electro-optic systems. 10 initial systems will be provided beginning in 2004 and extending through January 2005.
