Bell Helicopter Textron (BHT) submitted a proposal to develop a new crashworthy seat for the OH-58 Kiowa helicopter to the U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL) Fort Rucker, AL. A pressing need has existed for an improved seat to help prevent spinal column injuries in crashes.
