Contains the edited papers of twenty members of the Barton and Jones families who witnessed and participated in the Civil War. All are related by birth or marriage to David Walker Barton (1801-1863), who married Frances Lucy Mary Ann Margaret Jones in 1828. They had ten children. They lived in Winchester, Virginia, which placed them in the middle of many Civil War actions. Composed mainly of the writings of brothers Robert Thomas Barton (1841-1817), Randolph Jones Barton (1844-1921) and their cousin, Francis Buckner Jones (1862-1940).
