This book is compiled from the letters of my grandfather and grandmother written to each other during the war and which my grandmother printed privately in 1894. That work consists of two volumes, mostly in fine print, and contains many items not of interest to the general reader or even to members of the family of this generation. The original contains my great-grandfather's diary (extracts) some of W.W. Blackford's memoirs, now published as was "War Years with Jeb Stuart", and other material. -- Preface.
