Jack Eisner's story begins with the fall of Poland to the Nazis when he was a child of 13. He tells us of his life in the Warsaw ghetto, how he and his gang of teenagers smuggled food and arms over the wall, and of their valiant fight in the ghetto uprising. He takes us into the concentration camps, where he masterminded a series of daring escapes, only to be recaptured. Finally, Jack Eisner, on a death March it seemed he could not survive, was liberated at the age of 19 by American troops at the close of World War II. -- From the book jacket.
