Mishima, a repairman for the Exopolis Tower, Tokyo's largest and hottest highrise business and entertainment building, promises to come home in time to celebrate his son's birthday. His pushy boss convinces him to work over time and the task takes him all night. Riding the subway home in the morning, On the morning subway train heading home, an earthquake strikes and collapses both Exopolis and its underground train lines.
