Murder of Roger Ackroyd: Hercule Poirot has retired to a country village, until his neighbor is found murdered. Poirot reunites with his old partner, Chief Inspector Japp, to find the culprit, exposing a web of blackmail, envy, and murder. Lord Edgware dies: Poirot agrees to visit the husband of a famous actress to urge him to reconsider her request for a divorce. Edgware insists that he has already agreed to his wife's request. Yet, within twenty-four hours, he is found murdered.
