Murray Keifer is a loner in school whose mother is too busy entertaining male friends to tend to his needs. He frequents a cemetery where he uses his gift of communicating with the deceased. There, he hears the voice of a missing teenager, Nikki Parker, whose remains are buried in someone else's grave. The daughter of the groundskeeper and Murray's only living friend, Pearl, believes in his special gift. Together, they seek justice for Nikki while Deputy Roman Gates comes closer to solving the mystery of her disappearance.
