The British Army has been continually in action since 1945 somewhere in the world. This is the first book to record in readable style the part played by the Army throughout the retreat from Empire of the past 40 years. It covers the campaigns in Palestine in 1947 and then in succession those in Malaya, Kenya, Cyprus, Aden, the Persian Gulf, Borneo, Guyana, Belize and Northern Ireland. In the main it covers counter-insurgency operations, and therefore excludes such campaigns as Suez or the Korean War.
