Memoirs of a leader in the Betar movement in Vienna, who describes his role in the escape of ca. 40,000 Jews from Europe to Palestine in 1937-44. Perl was arrested in 1938, but managed to convince Eichmann and others to allow him to help Jews emigrate in order to make the city "judenrein". He then left for London to get financial and political support, but received none from the British government or from Jewish leaders. In order to continue helping Jews emigrate, he had to fight the Nazis, the British government, Jewish leaders in the diaspora who disapproved of illegal immigration, and the elements. Describes in detail his involvement in Betar rescue activities, both in Europe and in Palestine. From the Bibliography of the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism.
