Chico is half Hungarian and half Spanish, half Catholic and half Jewish. As a child he was steeped in the myths of Che Guevara and Salvador Allende but when he finds himself in the middle of Hungarian communism, he reevaluates his beliefs. Later, he takes sides in the war in Croatia.
