Qawwali is a form of music that uses poetry to open the fire of ecstasy in the heart of the listener. It includes praises for Mohammed or Ali, love poems and extraordinary esoteric poems from the Sufi masters. Qawwali is sung by a group composed of a lead singer and assisted by his group of musicians. The rhythm is underlined by the traditional dholak and tabla and melodic accompaniment by an harmonium.
