Malú y Jorgito son dos niños que se han prometido amistad para toda la vida, a pesar de que sus familias se detestan. Cuando la abuela de Malú se muere y su mamá decide irse a vivir fuera de Cuba, Malú y Jorgito tendrán que escaparse hasta el fin del mundo en busca de una esperanza para su amor. "Malú is from an upper-class family and her single mother does not want her to play with Jorgito, as she thinks his background is coarse and commonplace. Jorgito's mother, a poor socialst proud of her family's social standing, places similar restrictions on her son.
