Contains letters, minutes from public hearings, typewritten copies of deeds, newspaper articles, and memoranda, transcripts of telephone conversations, and other documents related to a request by the United States Department of the Army for withdrawal of public lands in southern New Mexico for permanent use by the Army. The public lands are being requested in connection with the Alamogordo General Bombing Range and the Doña Ana Target Range. The areas embrace portions of the White Sands National Monument, the Jornada Range Reserve, and the Cibola National Forest.
