"A metallurgical examination has been conducted on a Soviet 76MM HVAP-T projectile which was submitted by Picatinny Arsenal at the request of the Office, Chief of Ordnance. The results of the metallurgical examination of the tungsten carbide core, which were obtained by Mr. A. Burghardt and Mr. F. DeLacey in a separate study, are contained in a Watertown Arsenal Laboratory Report. Results of the examination of the complete round are contained in Picatinny Arsenal Technical Report Serial No. 1825 and of the cartridge Case in Frankford Arsenal Ord. Lab. Report No. MR 480. The projectile was disassembled and weights obtained for all components. Identification markings were recorded and dimensions obtained for preparation of a dimensioned drawing. Metallurgical tests which were conducted on the projectile components included chemical analyses, hardness surveys, macroetch tests, microscopic examinations and a tensile test of the carrier. The tests on the tungsten carbide cores consisted of a chemical analysis, hardness tests, microscopic examination, bend test, and specific gravity measurements."--Page 3.
