From the 1980 annual historical summary, Chapter 1 - Missions and Functions: The mission of the US Army Soldier Support Center (SSC) is to assist the TRADOC Commander with the combat developments, training developments, institutional training, and evaluation missions. SSC serves as an integrating center, one of three major subordinate commands of the Training and Doctrine Command. SSC integrates the activities of the following associated schools: the Institute of Personnel and Resource Management; the Defense Information School; the Academy of Health Sciences; the Judge Advocate General's School; the Chaplain's School; and the Army Section of the Navy School of Music. SSC is responsible for Army-wide integration of the following matters: Personnel Management; Comptrollership and Finance Services; Administrative Services; Morale Support Services; Club Management; Religious Services; Legal Services; Health Services; Military Police Services; Related Management Information Systems; and General Purpose Automatic Data Processing.
