From the 1986 annual historical review (page xiv) - USAJFKSWCS Missions: The US Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School has been the "schoolhouse" for US Army Special forces since establishment of the Psychological Warfare School at Smoke Bomb Hill, Ft. Bragg, on October 22, 1952. Reflecting the Army's increased interest in special warfare, on 10 December 1956 the school's title was changed to the Special Warfare School, and undergone a number of changes in the ensuing thirty years (see "Lineage", pp. ii-iii). From its earliest days the USAJFKSWCS, under whatever title has exercised the responsibility for the instruction of US Army Special Forces, as well as Army Psychological Operations, and later years, Civil Affairs and Foreign Area Officer Training. Titles in AHC-Schools U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School also include: Special Warfare Center historical report 1963 -- U.S. Army John F.
