From the 1 July 1964 thru 30 June 1970, v. I, Narrative, Preface: As the initial historical summary of the Kwajalein Missile Range (KMR), this document will differ from the usual official history of an Army agency. Historical summaries generally report the activities of an organization on an annual basis; this approach will be used in future KMR histories. However, since this is the first document of its kink to be prepared for KMR, the narrative will begin with the transfer of the Range to Army management in July 1964, and will include developments and programs through 1 July 1970. Because of the extensive time period covered, only those events of major or continuing significance will be treated. A chronology has been prepared which will supplement the narrative and provide, in abbreviated form, a more comprehensive record of events. In addition, certain general information concerning operational procedures and management concepts is provided throughout the narrative. The report consists of two volumes. Volume I contains the narrative account covering the period of 1 July 1964 to 1 July 1970. Volume II is a collection of supporting documents, i.e., actual copies of documents which lend authority to or amplify statements made in the narrative.
