From Preface of the 1973 historical summary: This Historical Summary will be the last summary of the Headquarters, U.S. Army Weapons Command to be prepared and published in accordance with AR 870-5 and AMC 870-1 directives. This, of course, results from the fact that as of 1 July 1973 the U.S. Army Weapons Command was redesignated the U.S. Army Armament Command as a result of the merger of U.S. Army Munitions Command, U.S. Army Weapons Command, and the U.S. Army Ammunition Procurement and Supply Agency, and the U.S. Army Small Arms Systems Agency.
