From 1993 Summary: In October 1992, the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) was activated, consolidating the seven corporate labs of the Laboratory Command (LABCOM) with other Army research elements to form a centralized laboratory concentrating on scientific research, technology development, and analysis. ARL's basic mission is to conduct basic and exploratory research and analysis to ensure supremacy in future land warfare. With emphasis on teamwork and partnership, the lab is pursuing a vigorous program of scientific and technological outreach with a broad spectrum of government agencies, industry, and academia.
