From 1985 review's Introduction: In April 1985, the U.S. Army Electronics Systems Engineering Installation Activity (USAESEIA) was assigned to me to facilitate the merger of disciplines needed to create a comprehensive information systems engineering capability. On 1 July 1985 the name of the command changed from USAESEIA to USAISEC to reflect this merger and emphasize the Command's responsibility to engineer and integrate the Army's information systems.
