From Foreword: The United States Army Information and Data Systems Command was established on 1 June 1965. Because this occurred in the last month of FY 65, the Annual Historical Summary was not prepared for the Command in FY 65. Instead, the time frame of the Summary for FY 66 has been extended will include the period from 1 June 1965 to 30 June 1966.

The Special Assistant, Army Information and Data Systems (AIDS) was directed to exercise command authority over USAIDSCOM by paragraph 4, DA Letter (AGAO-O (M)) (25 May 1965).
