Modern Army aviators may have missed when the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) began publishing "MON" designators on instrument flight rules (IFR) enroute charts and in the chart supplements in 2019.These marking refer to the Minimum Operational Network (MON) and are an indication of the FAA's major ongoing changes tot he National AIrspace System and IFR navigation. The network of very high frequency omnidirectional range (VOR) navigational aids (NAVAIDS) and Victor, used since the 1940s, will soon be reduced to a MON.
