From 1990 annual command history's Foreword: This was a year of challenges and changes. LTG Salomon continued to direct the organization toward completion of his goals and at the same time TRADOC reorganized and in the process changed our name to the Combined Arms Support Command. In the latter part of the year Operation Desert Shield brought a flurry of activity as we began to exercise what we had been planning for so long. Individual soldiers and civilians from this command went to Saudi Arabia to assist in the operation.
