From the 1983 annual historical review's Part II. Personnel and Administration; Downsizing and Reorganization (page 18): Appointment of Dr. Marion R. Bryson as Director, USACDEC, in March 1983 and subsequent changes in title from Combat Developments Experimentation Command to Activity and finally to Center affected many documents/publications/authority changes and required extensive coordination. In conjunction with these realignment actions, USACDEC was also directed by TRADOC to reduce enlisted strength by 443 spaces beginning in October 1983.
