This book has been written for the United States Navy Department and the Admiralty by Vice-Admiral Eberhard Weichold of the former German Navy. It is based on captured German naval records. Part I- first phase of the war, the initial struggle, operations in the North Sea. Part II- the second phase, main operations, long-range offensive in the Atlantic. Part III- the third phase, operations on the perimeter of the naval theater. Part IV- the last phase, operations in coastal waters. Part V- conclusion. Also included is a list of plans and diagrams at the end of the volume.
