The subject of this report is the participation by United States Army Forces in the Middle Pacific (USAFMIDPAC) in the final phase of the war against Japan. The period covered is from 21 June 1945, when organized resistance on Okinawa ceased, to 2 September 1945, the date of the formal surrender of Japan. This report is the final in a series of participation reports which were rendered by this headquarters to give a comprehensive account of the administrative and logistical effort required to support offensive operations in this theater. The information gathered and recorded in these reports may well prove of substantial value in giving a better perspective and a more complete picture of operations in the Pacific. Sections include: Headquarters Army Forces Middle Pacific; Central Pacific Base Command; Western Pacific Base Command; Southern Pacific Base Command; Air Forces Middle Pacific; Replacement Training Command; VI Air Service Area Command; annex 1- participating army units; annex 2- disposition of troops; annex 3- map of islands in Middle Pacific; and annex 4- map of islands in Western and Central Pacific.
