Interest in offensive chemical operations has increased, and there seems to be an indication that gas warfare may see its first employment offensively by the A.A.F. in the Pacific Theater. Because of our tremendous air superiority and the doctrine of employment of chemical agents, it is most likely that the Air Forces will be the agency primarily responsible for carrying out these offensive operations. Other chemical warfare munitions including smoke and incendiary materials play an increasingly important part in our present operations. It is the purpose of this period to present the results of recent experiments in the use of large nonpersistent gas bombs, developments in the employment of incendiaries, and present ideas on use of smoke in amphibious operations.
