This document is presented as a brief report to outline the operations of the XXIV Corps in the Battle of Leyte. The operation presented the first real opportunity for American troops in the Pacific to make full use of maneuver and fire power, and to demonstrate conclusively their superiority over the best the Japanese could offer in open warfare using the sound principles enunciated in our training literature. Subjects are divided into the following: brief narrative of events; intelligence; operations; logistics; personnel and civil affairs; lessons learned; and recommendations.
