In its request for a study on Russian airborne operations, the Historical Division expressed the wish that the description of the two air landings made by the Russians in the winter of 1941-42 and in the fall of 1943 be written, if possible, by officers present in the area. Chapters include: Russian air landings in area of German Army group center; employment of Russian parachute forces in Cherkassy-Kiev area (24-25 September 1943); and appendixes (employment of a Russian parachute brigade in bend of Dnieper northwest of Kanev, and report on jumps made by Russian parachute troops east of Belaya Tserkov).
