This procedure is designed to reduce the volume of orders and instructions and to establish a common understanding of routine operations in the field. Objective: Quick and safe landing of combat teams under cover of all available Naval gunfire and Army and Naval Air support, in accordance with a simple, flexible, preconceived plan; the complete and rapid destruction of the enemy, employing ground troops, Naval gunfire, and air support in closely-coordinated attack; after the destruction of the enemy, quick consolidation and preparation for defense against hostile air and surface attack.
