It was the desire of the President, the Secretary of War, and the Commanding General, AAF that a solid record of the experiences of the Army Air Forces be compiled. This is one of a series of studies prepared as "first narratives" in the projected over-all history of the AAF. Topics include the American entry into the Middle East, air-ground cooperation in the Western Desert, the Battle of El Alamein, and the advance to Tripoli.
