This Civil Affairs handbook describes the main branches of industry of Japan- these include textiles, metals and metal products, chemical industry, coal and petroleum, processed foodstuffs, clay products, timber industry, and printing and binding; a miscellaneous section discusses cement, motion pictures, and tobacco industries. Another section of this document looks at industrial organization and government control followed by the important effects of war on industry (government controls in wartime).
