In this November 2014 interview, MAJ Jose Torres, US Army, Signal Corps; discusses his deployment with 160th Signal Brigade to Afghanistan as a plans and operations chief for the Task Force Signal at Bagram Airfield in 2013 through 2014 in support of Operation New Dawn (OND). MAJ Torres talks about his missions of strategic communications. He describes how the initial tasking to retrograde communications changed throughout the deployment. He discusses some difficult leadership challenges he faced and discusses the handoff to the incoming brigade. MAJ Torres closes his interview by stating, " For all the officers, you need to learn or know a little about everything within your craft so that when you get there you know a little of what you need to do instead of just hitting the ground hard, like I did."
