In this October 2013 interview, MAJ Christy Erwin, US Army, Logistics, discusses her deployment to Afghanistan as a logistics training for 13th Expeditionary Training Command as part of the NATO Training Mission - Afghanistan in 2011 through 2012 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). MAJ Erwin talks about his mission of the management of both the army and the police training teams and as liaison officer to Regional Command - South. She describes traveling with the general and talks about some her interactions with the Afghans. She discusses some challenges she faced dealing with Afghan logistical issues. She shares a specific memory of allowing the Afghans to fail and seeing that they would find a way. MAJ Erwin closes her interview by stating, "I think we are very judgmental -- especially in groups and we don't accept things that don't uphold to our personal standards. After trying to teach Afghans, after dealing with them, I think that we need to be a little bit more accepting of other people's opinions, and other people's standards, essentially. That would be my big observation from the last ten years."
