In this June 2013 interview, COL John Spiszer, US Army, V Corps discusses his deployment to Afghanistan as a military assistant to LTG James Terry at the International Security Assistance Force Join Command (IJC) in 2012 through 2013 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). COL Spiszer talks about how V Corps was manned and how it fit into the ISAF structure with NATO troops. He describes the mission of the IJC and talks about their lines of effort. He discusses some challenges faced meshing all these organizations together and shares how they dealt with personnel and base closings. COL Spiszer closes his interview by stating, "The major accomplishment ended up being properly practicing operational art in accordance with our doctrine and understanding that you need and what the value of a US corps is."
