Major Jonathon Gendron has been on two deployments to Iraq in support of Global War on Terror. In this January 2013 interview, MAJ Jonathan Gendron, US Army, Signal; discusses his deployment to Iraq as a battalion S4 for 29th Signal Battalion, 22nd Signal Brigade in 2005 through 2006 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). MAJ Gendron talks about learning quickly after his first deployment that he would be going back to Iraq. He describes the mood in his unit as they prepared for the deployment and talks about the training they had once they got into country. He details a typical day and describes some difficult challenges with transferring out equipment. MAJ Gendron shares his deployment successes and closes his interview by discussing a lesson learned, "I would say the biggest thing is taking the experiences from your first deployment but not relying on that heavily because I think a lot of assumptions were made going into the second deployment."
