In this November 2012 interview, MAJ Timothy Sartori, US Army, Aviation discusses his deployment to Egypt as a company commander for an eight-ship Blackhawk company from 2010 through 2011. MAJ Sartori had the aviation role of ensuring that the Israelis and the Egyptians were adhering to the peacekeeping treaty of 1983. MAJ Sartori talks about flying both Egyptians and Israelis along the border and some of the difficulties he encountered with flying in the area. He also describes the response of the Bedouin population to the Arab uprising in Egypt and how this created from additional difficulties for the peacekeepers. MAJ Sartori closes his interview by stating, "You cannot be risk adverse and still provide the Soldiers the ability to do their jobs. I find it does not matter what deployment you go on, whether that is Iraq or Afghanistan, teaching the Jordanians how to fly Blackhawks, or even a peacekeeping mission in Egypt, you cannot be risk adverse."
