In this interview MAJ Sean Powell discusses his 2006 deployment to Iraq on a military transition team (MiTT). MAJ Powell discusses his assignment to the team, his integration into theater, and the immediate challenges his team faced with their team was leader killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion on their first day of transition with the team they were replacing. MAJ Powell continues his discussion and relates the difficulties and successes he had on this 15-month deployment. MAJ Powell concludes his interview by discussing his reintegration back into theater and with his family.
