In this June 2012 interview, Mrs. Shand Mayville, wife of MG William C. Mayville, Jr., commander of the 1st Infantry Division (ID), discusses her life as an Army spouse during the Global War on Terror (GWOT). Mrs. Mayville offers a unique perspective to being an Army spouse and how it has impacted her, her life, and those of her children. Mrs. Mayville shares struggles she has been through, challenges she has faced, and successes she has had over the years. Mrs. Mayville's positive attitude towards being a military spouse is echoed in her comments on how she has supported not only her husband in his career but two of their three children as well. She concludes her interview by quoting a well-known Jimmy Buffet song in regards to how she feels about her time as a military spouse, "Some of its magic, some of its tragic, but I've had a good life all the way!"
