In this interview, MAJ Matthew Collins, US Army, Military Intelligence (MI); discusses his deployment to Iraq as a battle major for the Analysis and Control Element (ACE); 18th Airborne Corps in 2007 through 2008 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). MAJ Collins talks about being in Afghanistan in 2003 during the invasion of Iraq and describes his reaction. He recalls his first few days in country and talks about his major responsibilities. He shares a special memory of putting a combative seminar together with Rorion Gracie and talks about that once in a lifetime opportunity. He shares his experience with reintegration post-deployment and compares his reintegration experience from all of his deployments. MAJ Collins describes a difficult challenge he had to overcome and closes his interview by stating, "Educate the populace so that they know what they are spending their money on, what they are getting their greatest resources from for their sons and daughters."
