In this interview, MAJ Matt Williams, US Army, Armor; discusses his three deployments to Iraq as a logistics officer (S4) for 4-64 Armor Division, 3-7th Infantry Division, company commander for 3-7th Infantry Division, 4-3 Brigade Special Troops Battalion (BSTB) and military transition team (MiTT) chief from 2004 through 2011 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). MAJ Williams talks about his three deployments to Iraq and Iskandiriyah. He talks about assuming command on his first deployment and preparing his Soldiers for his second deployment. He discusses his role on each deployment and recalls a special memory of making a special trip to see his wife while she was also deployed to renew their wedding vowels in country. MAJ Williams closes his interview by stating, "If we go back to the core missions we had before, we really have a generation of not only younger Soldiers, but officers who have never really operated in the sort of traditional sense."
