MAJ Christian Marian served as commander of Bravo Company, 3rd of the 1-58, 12 Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) in Balad and Taji, Iraq during 2007 and 2008 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). In this March 2012 interview, MAJ Mariani discusses the establishment of the 12th CAB, his mission flying VIPs, particularly MG James Simmons, in Balad, and his change of command and mission when he moved to Taji. MAJ Mariani concludes his interview with a brief discussion of his early re-deployment to take command of a company with the 2-14 Aviation Regiment after that company lost an aircraft and a commander in a crash.
