MAJ Timothy Ferguson served as the brigade logistics officer (S4) and as company commander in Tal Afar and Ramadi, Iraq during 2006 and 2007 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). In this February 2012 interview, MAJ Ferguson discusses the handoff between his legacy unit and the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR), the circumstances of his taking command, and the unit's mission change from Tal Afar to Ramadi. MAJ Ferguson concludes his interview with the observation, "I think we finally reached the point where we weren't going to be able to do much more on our own. I think in some ways I felt like when we were leaving in 2009 that unless we were really going to stick around and concentrate on doing any type of operation on our own, just focus on training, we're not going to get them much better than they are. They're capable of doing it; it's just a matter of them doing it."
