In this interview, MAJ David Hughes, US Marine Corps, Aviation Command and Control Office; discusses his deployment to Afghanistan as an air traffic control watch officer for Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron in 2004 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). MAJ Hughes describes his immediate thoughts when he arrived in country and details a typical day. He talks about there being a shortage of air traffic controllers and describes a difficult challenge that he overcame. MAJ Hughes shares a couple of specific memories and closes his interview by stating, "When you get [into country] dig in."
